WHY AGENTBAY

A useful starting point, with the sources in view.

I built AgentBay to make one question easier to answer: what is the right skill for the task in front of me? I look for traceable publishers and active repositories, then make the instructions and evidence easier to inspect.

Install AgentBay once in the project you’ll open in your agent. Requires Node.js 22.20+, Git and internet access. No GitHub account or full checkout is needed.

1. Install in your terminal

A project install is visible only when you open that project. Choose all projects for a user-wide install; reuse an existing copy instead of installing both.

In Claude desktop, open Customize → Skills → Add skill → Upload skill. Upload the ZIP and enable AgentBay. Code execution/file creation and network access are required.

2. Check your agent can see it

Open the same project in Codex or Claude Code and start a fresh chat. Confirm AgentBay (package: agentbay-skill-installer) appears in Skills (or /skills in the CLI). If Codex still doesn’t show it, restart Codex. In Claude desktop, start a new chat after enabling the upload.

It says “no AgentBay skill found”

The agent has not discovered AgentBay. A project install is available only in that project; a chat in another folder will not see it. Return to the folder where you ran the command, reopen it in your agent and check Skills before trying the task.

3. Copy into your agent’s chat

For example: “Find a skill for converting Excel to PDF with AgentBay.” Finding a skill searches the maintained catalogue, not only your installed skills, and returns a shortlist. It checks the requested input and output formats before recommending a converter. Then ask AgentBay to install the chosen skill, check prerequisites and use it.

Copying does not run anything. Installation does not grant cloud or account access. Recommendations and curation on AgentBay.io are not synchronized back into the GitHub list. Favorites, notes and personal collections stay on the site.
